1st, The Science Project assignment is in the Monday folders. The due date is February 20th. This project is intended to be fun and creative. If you are feeling stressed and unclear, send me an email and I will help you out. Click here for a link to the assignment page.
2nd, We are starting student VIPs. Each day there will be a new VIP. We are starting with the A names and will finish with the Z names. When we reach the end of our name list we will start again. The purpose of this activities is to give each child an opportunity to be upfront and sharing, but also to teach our class how to make put our own wants aside and make someone else feel special. In math we are learning addition strategies. These will later translate into very helpful mental math skills.
This week in Daily 5 we are introducing "Work on Writing." Students are learning different strategies to allow them to sit and write for an extended period of time.
In Zoo Phonics we will work on words in the "o" and "old" family. Examples are: go, no, so, cold, fold, hold, gold, mold. These are all long "o" words.
Science Friday is back! Our science until is all about plants and animals and their adaptations. Adaptations are the special characteristics an animal has to help it survive in their environment. We will be using fun resources like Wild Krats, Epic, Mystery Science, class books and much more. There will also be a project due at the end. Instructions are in the Monday folders today, 1/16/18. Homework- read for 20 minutes a night, 6 or more stars are possible.
