Picture day is the this Thursday the 21st for first graders. Free dress on this day.
In Math this week it's all about reading time to the 1/2 hour. We are practicing hard. Telling time is so important and it also relates to our science unit. So exciting!!! Check out the video below.
Homework- Remember to read 80 minutes a week (20 min a day). This homework is required. Fill out the STAR reading, sign it and turn it in on FRIDAY. The weekly homework menu is optional but so worth while. Students can do these activities for more STARs. Be sure to sign it and turn it in on FRIDAY also.
Super Power of the week- Peacefulness
This week in Zoo Phonics we are learning words in the "id" family and reviewing words in the "at" family. Work on having your child signal the letter sounds as well as writing them. The added physical activity helps cement the spelling in their brains. Check out our new sight word tab on this webpage.
Science Fridays- Last week we read a story about shadows and explored how shadows change throughout the day. We also tracked the sun and saw where it rises (East) and where sets (West). On the playground we started a sun dial clock by tracking the shadow cast by the tether ball pole. We tracked it from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Try this at home! Also, help your child identify East and West at their house. Check out our science tab on this webpage!
