Super Exciting news!!! As part of our social studies unit on needs vs. wants our students are learning that our families meet our basic needs of health, shelter, food, clothes and water. They are also learning that it takes money and jobs to meet those basic needs. The exciting thing is that our first graders are applying that knowledge by starting a fund raiser. We want to improve the look and functionality of the yard in front of our school and they have designed and are selling an Achieve t-shirt to raise money for this project. This shirt is only offered to achieve students. You will see an order form in the Monday folder. All other Achieve classes with get an order form next Monday. So proud of these first graders.
Homework- Star reading, 8 stars are required with sentences. 1 Math page.
Super Power of the week- Virtue of Determination. Using your willpower to do something even when it is hard.
Math- We are working on knowing our math facts. Any practice you can do at home is wonderful. There are many apps to use, you can also use flash cards.
Social Studies- Last week we talked about how our families get the things we NEED (food, water, shelter, clothes). This is leading us into our study of community helpers and how people earn money to buy the things they NEED. So cool and so fun. I don't have a community helpers day planned yet, but let me know if you are interested in sharing your carrier with our class.
Have a great week,
