Last Friday we got to see a play presented by Mains'L. They came to our school and presented the The Boy Who Cried Wolf. We are so lucky to see such a wonderful show put on by such wonderful actors. Most of the actors have a disability of some sort and displayed such excellence in their performance.
Valentines party is Wednesday. I am also stapling a class list to the STAR reading page. Party will be at 1:45 and there is a class sign up list on the facebook page. We have 24 students. Here is our class list: Alyssa, Amelia, Aubrey, Augusto, Carson, Chanelle, Christopher, Colton, Eleanor, Evalie, Gabe, Hadley ,Henry, Jaxon, JP, Kian, Madi, Mikhail, Oliver, Olivia, Rocco, Tezzrah, Tristan, Zackery. I am also stapling a class list to the STAR reading page. Reminder: we have one student with a nut allergy, please be careful not to send anything with tree nuts. Thank you!
PLP's are just around the corner. March 1st and 2nd. I will be sending out a sign up just like last time thru email and Facebook. Keep an eye out for it.
Math: Today we finished our unit on addition strategies and tomorrow we will begin out unit on subtraction strategies. No a lot of math work went home in the Monday folders today because we did a lot of work with manipulative and supporting their own math thinking.
Superpower of the week is confidence. Olympics are in full swing and we are using Olympians to talk about confidence. Confidence is being sure of what you know and can do.
Daily 5- They did it! They reached 20 minutes. We had a our stuffed animal party last Thursday. Keep on going firsties!
Zoo Phonics - This week we explore more "polite partners" with the "ar" words. "ar" makes 4 different sounds and we will attempt to cover all of them this week.
Science Friday- Last week we explored what behaviors mothers and baby animals use to keep the babies safe. Ask you first grader what they saw ducks, birds, cats, and opossum.
Homework- It's a short week and science projects are due next week. No math homework, just reading. Only six stars are required. Let me know if you have questions!
Remember no school on Friday or next Monday.
