School year is wrapping up. You can feel it in the air. The kids know it is close. Even my kids at home don't want to go to bed because the sun is still up. Try to keep those bed times early. I know it is hard, but it makes a big difference.
At calendar time we are practicing the skill of keeping track of important dates and times. We have a lot of fun things coming up. One exciting things is our Summer Birthday Party. I would love to through birthday party for all the kids who will have birthdays this summer. This will also be our end of the year party. I need your help. We need lunch finger foods, drinks, cake/cupcakes and ice cream. Party favors, party supplies, party games would also be an extra special touch. Maybe you have some old ones laying around. We also need parent help. Sign ups will be on the Facebook page. (Possible date May 31 at 1:30)
Super Power of the week- Virtue of Kindness- How can we show kindness the last few weeks of school. It is easy for a 6/7 year old feel tired and self-centered these last few weeks of school. Talk with your child about every day ways to show kindness and put others first. Start a family challenge to show kindness and check in at the dinner table. Have fun with it.
PE- working on kickball skills.
Science- This Friday we will start our unit on Light and Sound. Vibration was the word of the week last week. Sound and vibration go together. We explored many objects that vibrate including tin can telephones, Mr. Wrights guitar, and string.
Math- We are adding in the tens place this week. Strategies we have explored are using a numbers chart, counting up by 10. We are building foundations. the traditional method of pencil and paper addition of double digit addition with come next year. This year is all about building understanding of why the paper and pencil method work. We are building strong math brains brick by brick.
